Imaginary Friends

Actually, I had an imaginary friend when I was younger (like two or three years ago) and I got to know him pretty well. Sadly, he passed. But even then I was pretty sure that I was the only one talking to him.

Now, I wonder if everyone is imagining god the same way?

They should come up with a modern standard edition, so that at least everyone is on the same page. Because now, when I hear someone talking about I imagine Morgan Freeman or Alanis Morrisette, and I respect them both for what they do, sort of, but neither one particularly strike me as “god-like.”

Although, I would like to point out that Charlize Theron is as close as you can get to a goddess… Scarlett Johansson is another runner up… Oh-Ooooh, I’m in trouble now. What’s that honey? Yes, I’m on blogging again. Yes, talking about religion… sort of. I’m writing about what god should look like. No, definitely not Morgan Freeman. Mmm, no I don’t thing Clint Eastw… hey, you might be unto something there.

A goddess?

You honey!

You are my goddess!!!

How Will Extremist Groups Feel About a Black President?

I was just thinking about this today after I saw the video on youtube where Derrick Ashong, an African-American man, is voicing out his perspective on the upcoming elections in support of Barack Obama.

The upcoming election is an interesting one. As much as we hate to admit it, there still is a lot of sexism and racism in this country. Violence perpetrated against women has been a recent topic in many of my myspace friend's blogs, and reality becomes a cool slap across the face when we find out the staggering numbers and the frequency in which these crimes take place.

I went on about my business thinking about these things when a mischievous fleeting though perused my mind… How will extremist, Neo-Nazi, KKK, hate groups feel about having a black president?

I must admit that I did chuckled a bit when I imagined the leaders of these groups sitting in their swastika-crammed T.V. rooms wearing their white robes and pointy hats watching CNN as the anchor announces that Barack Obama won the election.

***Chuckles*** (again)

I have absolutely no idea if these individuals are politically inclined or not. They do clearly exhibit opinionated personalities. I wonder if they will voice out their opinion on the matter. And if they do, I wonder if anyone other than their peers will care. In any case, they will have no choice but to accept the triumph of the Democratic Candidate, and yell a few obscenities about the matter in their next cross-burning ceremony.

***sigh***

My Wife Loves Me (She makes me Brussels Sprouts)

She was gone for a whole week. She went to the Institute for Functional Medicine conference in Atlanta and came back loaded with information about health. The funny (or dramatic) thing is that while she was gone I made my way to Jack in the Box a couple of times, I made a pit stop at panda Express on a certain occasion and to top it off… I had some tacos in Tijuana before she came back.

Mind you, I am somewhat conscious about my health. There has even been some times in which my diet has consisted in nothing but natural foods, fruit, vegetables, some protein supplements, fish, chicken and prime meat. I went years without drinking a single soft drink, or even coffee and fast food restaurants weren’t even part of my conception of reality. Then I recapitulated and decided that a little bit of some things wouldn’t be so bad, so I started having an occasional pop. Every once in a while I would go the jack in the Box (for some reason I am under the impression that this place is the least harmful of the bunch).

I’ll be completely honest: We like good food. Wait, let me rephrase that: We like tasty food. And we like indulging ourselves, and hot dang it we do love us some tacos from “El Frances.” What can I say? They are really yummy. (Right baby?) But all those exotic delicatessens are going to have to wait because we are diving head first into an elimination diet that’s going to rock our private little world from our taste buds. But that’s ok; the spicy chicken sandwich is not that good anyways. I am going to miss panda though, at least for a few weeks until we start introducing the eliminated items back into our diet, contingent of course to how we feel when we do so.

I feel good about this. We are going organic on all we can go organic with not just food. Did you know that they make organic mattresses? They have found rat poison on the regular ones. So, we started making changes a while back and this is just a continuation of that process and maybe even an evolution in it. She made me Brussels sprouts for lunch today, the first time I ever have them and they were really tasty. I had them along with a piece of tender rosemary roasted organic chicken.

I am thankful for all of this. I am grateful that I can learn better ways to take care of my body. I am thankful that I can enjoy all of this and share it with whoever reads this, and most of all, I am thankful for having married such a wonderful woman who takes care of me and makes me Brussels sprouts for lunch.

I almost forgot

It's tuesday. I’m supposed to write something here but I’ve been busy at work. But hey, it’s Tuesday. I don’t know, but there is something very nonchalantly and sometimes melancholic about Tuesdays.

I wonder if anybody ever wished to be a Tuesday?
